Communicorp Inks Contract for Heidelberg XL 105-10P,
Continues Cutting Edge Innovations
COLUMBUS, Ga. – July 3, 2008. James C. Woodall,
President and CEO of Communicorp, Inc., officially
entered into a signed agreement on July 2 for the
purchase of an XL 105-10P sheetfed printing press.
Manufactured by Heidelberg at its Wiesloch, Germany
production facility, the XL 105 will replace two presses
currently in use at Communicorp, and represents a
completely new development from Heidelberg.
The 10-color press is designed to boost productivity
levels significantly, according to Dr. Jurgen Rautert,
management board member for engineering and manufacturing
at Heidelberg, and it received the renowned Printing
Industries of American/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation
(PIA/GATF) InterTech award for innovations in 2007.
Mr. Woodall noted that “this machine places
Communicorp in the forefront of press developments.
It will be one of only a very few in this part of
the United States, and will have a profoundly positive
effect, both economically and environmentally, for
our print customers.”
“Fewer machines and higher productivity”
was the goal of Marcia Bonsell, Communicorp’s
Vice President of Production. Ms. Bonsell spearheaded
months of research that eventually culminated in this
purchase and has every confidence in its high level
of automation and efficient operation. “Efficiencies
gained at this level will result in immediate benefits
to Communicorp’s customer base. We are very
pleased to offer this elevated level of technology.”
