Communicorp and Edgewood Elementary honored by Partners
in Education
COLUMBUS, Ga., May 7, 2008 – The Board of Directors
of Partners in Education (PIE) recently awarded its
top honor, the Gold Achievement Award, to Communicorp
and its partner Edgewood Elementary School. The partnership
was also recognized as one of the top ten in the Columbus
area.
PIE is a program administered by The Greater Columbus
Chamber of Commerce and involves over 100 schools
and approximately 240 businesses, churches, military
units and other organizations dedicated to enriching
the lives of students in our area classrooms.
Gold Level recognition can be attained only by a fully
engaged partner with both a human and a financial
investment in enriching the life experiences of students,
improving academic performance, growing career opportunities
and providing faculty development and enrichment.
“Fully engaged” has meant a lot of hands-on
involvement at Edgewood Elementary. Communicorp employees
have painted faces, judged competitions, provided
resources for classroom activities, hosted tours of
Communicorp for students, honored the faculty and
staff on National Teacher Appreciate Day and even
persuaded Santa to visit the school.
The Gold Achievement Award is a significant honor
to Communicorp, but the most noteworthy achievement
is the benefit to so many of the Edgewood Elementary
students who were involved in the PIE program.
